Some say it’s all about customer service, some say it’s the ability to fix problems in the area of practice. I’d argue that being successful is the most important thing.
Without success, you’re not going to stay in business.
Without success you dread payday, family vacations and that meeting with your unhappy client. So instead of focusing on building on the established relationship (and if someone has written you a check, believe me, you have a relationship), you focus on recovery.
Success varies though, since it is subjective by nature, we need to look at the parts of the business that matter. The parts that make you money.
- Customers (the acquisition and retention)
- Actual IT work (fixing computers, developing networks, installing VoIP, etc)
- Accounting (Timely invoicing, Accounts Receivable, Bookkeeping)
- Marketing (Marketing not Advertising, Advertising is much different)
- Employees (a blessing and a curse)
There are many more elements and not all of these will be a direct concern to your business. I’m just painting a picture of areas that need to be addressed to have a successful business.
Nobody can help you with all the elements of your business. Not even a business partner (sometimes). The best you can hope for often is finding a mentor to help.
The Cloud Workforce has the tools and the knowledge to help you until then.
